CMP Roundtable: The State of MMO’s

This week, I was honored to be invited to participate in a round-table discussion on the future of MMO’s for the Contains Moderate Peril 150th episode celebration! It was a blast sitting alongside such esteemed company as Syl (MMO Gypsy), Joseph/Scormus (MMO Troll & Roleplay Domain), Jewel (Healing the Masses) and of course Roger and (as ever) Brian of CMP. Although most members of the panel were out of my league as far as MMO experience goes, this group was very welcoming, as expected. We discussed a variety of topics, from the emergence of sandbox to crowd-funding. Readers of this site and listeners of Beyond Bossfights will probably find it well worth their time to check out.

You might remember Roger as my guest from Beyond Bossfights episodes 5 and 6, where we discuss gaming communities at some length. What you may not remember, however, is that Roger and I have collaborated before, on CMP Podcast episode 133, and on a couple of LOTRO Players News podcasts. I have also been a guest contributor to his site. As always, I’m grateful to the opportunities Roger and Brian have extended to me.

That was a great show. The part that is most interesting to me (outside of the obvious being the conversation) was being able to hear new voices. It’s interesting the way we perceive people through their words, and how their voice inevitably sounds different than we might have expected. This is especially true for those who are using English as a second (or maybe third) language.

If you are interested, one of these days you should come on our show. I’d be interested in joining yours as well!
